Batman and Robin is a movie coming out of the year 1997 and has everything that you would want in a Batman movie! High flying action, Bold acting, Awesome costumes. The characters jump out of the screen and keep a high tempo the whole time. It is star studded, with George Clooney as Batman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Therman, Chris O'Donnell, and Alecia Silverstone as Batgirl. All with incredible performances. They go the full length with the costumes and makeup, making the characters come to life and be believable. George Clooney got a lot of flack for this role, and was hailed as not good, but the fact is he was Spectacular in this! He had such good attitude and portrayed the role with such charisma and humor. His acting was flawless. He was excellent at playing the rich playboy suave genius super hero that is Bruce Wayne. At times he was cheezy, but they all were. It was funny. The film had all sorts of technology gadgets in it, too. Not to mention some very high stakes stunts: At one point Mr. Freeze is driving a vehicle across the outstretched arm of a huge monument statue high up above the middle of the city, and jumps across a gap from building to building (yea). Robin and Batgirl go on a motorcycle race in the streets and chasms of Gotham in an underground chase scene that you could feel the tension and intensity in. The costumes once again are incredible! They have these glow in the dark paints they use for the henchmen in this scene, and they look so unorthodox and interesting and spectacular. It's glow in the dark, and their hair and costumes are done with such a realistic and interesting feel. The dynamic between Robin and Batman is very good, too. They have a natural parody in jocking for position of the power of the crime fighting duo. Batgirl is shown as the neice of the butler Alfred. Her and Robin have a natural affinity for motorcycles. Uma Thurman plays an amazing backup character called Poison Ivy, who has an expertise in plants and natural herbs. The sets for this movie they went above and beyond for. The lairs for the bad guys and for Batman are all well done and well lit. They made these underground sets with all these paints and details and interesting props like plants and couches. Arnold's freeze jokes get a little cheezy and stupid, but hey you've got to have some humor in your movie. This can be forgiven with the awesome detail of the scenes and special effects of this film. We get to know each of the characters, and even the henchmen of Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. Arnold's acting is top notch, as well as Clooney's. The special effects of this were great, with the Batmobile making its usual appearance, Mr. Freeze shooting ice beams to freeze people solid, and Poison Ivy blowing magical sleeping dust at her foes to put them under a love spell. The underplots are thick and done well, with Uma seducing Batman and Robin both and making them vie for her love, Batgirl reuniting with her lost uncle Alfred, and Mr. Freeze retrieving his frozen wife. The realism of the city of Gotham was so unbelievable and can be watched again and again in this film. Check it out, Batman and Robin: 5 thumbs way up!
