The Arrival was a 90s movie that starred Charlie Sheen. It's about Aliens visiting earth! And Charlie Sheen (Zane in the movie) is the skeptical conspiracy theorist scientist that no one believes. It's honestly a very alluring flick. The character is realistic and believable, like many of Charlie's roles. He is sort of this nerdy guy, who monitors sounds and atmospheric things from his radio station. Until one day all his beliefs about aliens are confirmed. They even show the real aliens in this movie! The CGI is great for this time period.
The aliens use this thing that is a small round metal device that spins to clear the room from everything in it like a vacuum to cover their tracks of evidence. It's an interesting invention for a movie. The sound and light of it is great. It's this rigid small metal ball. The light comes out from it and it just sucks everything up. Kinda cool.
Eventually it all turns into a large conspiracy with even politicians and high-ranking people controlling the human race. Zane is searching for truth and trying to battle them. In the climax, he gets into a duel with the aliens, and it leaves us in the edge of our seat. We don't know if he will be caught, and lose the fight, or succeed and get the truth out there for the rest of mankind to help. The aliens in this can put on these suits or skins that make them appear human. This is how they have taken over so much. Charlie eventually even infiltrates the Aliens' base! It is thrilling. We are so anxious as to see if he will get caught by them or not.
In the end of the movie he escapes and lives. And sends a signal to get the word out there for everyone. In this movie we have some hardcore action. Charlie is battling the human-skinned aliens in a small satellite outpost building in the middle of the desert. They really set the setting that there is nowhere to go. He fights them, and freezes them, and eventually gets away from them somehow.
The main female actress in this Lindsay Crouse, who is dynamic and dramatic. She played the in Meet the Parents. The Arrival made almost no money in the box office actually. They say it was because of the overshadowing of Independence Day at that time, which was about to come out about a month later. They were both alien movies. The movie didn't have necessarily commercial appeal like Independence Day, but it was a very interesting and dynamic movie. It's incredibly realistic. I give it a 9/10 for realism. The plot is compelling and has you reeling the whole time. Charlie Sheen usually brings the drama to his roles. And this one is no different.
