Chairman of the Board Movie Review

Chairman of the Board is coming out of 1998, and was an incredibly funny movie starring Carrot Top: the bright red-haired comedian. Yes, this movie came out only one year before "The Matrix". Carrot plays a genius inventor who is very absent-minded and goofy. He finally gets to push forward his ideas for inventions when his rent payment must be paid or he will have to move out of his house and then inherits a gadget company. He has an "Invention Book" with all sorts of wacky inventions. Many of them are impossible to actually work, but it is so funny how ridiculous and over the top the inventions are. Carrot Top's positive and bright attitude throughout the movie are a catalyst and something we can hang on to, although it is over-the-top and ridiculous. We cheer for Edison (Carrot Top), because he is so relentingly positive and good hearted. This movie even has some sexual references and brief nudity. Carrot Top is a class act. His expressions and acting ability are to be praised in this performance. The movie also has some big name actors in it. It had a 7 million dollar budget. The cinematography is great. All the scenes are well shot and the actors did a great job. Edison goes to head the top of a company, which was given to him by a stranger who he just met a few days before. He finally gets his chance to try out all his inventions. Edison's roomates are these two surfer guys who are very aloof and stoner-like. The props in this movie are outstanding! There are so many wacky inventions. This mimics Carrot Top's standup routine. He would bring up wacky inventions on stage that would never work but are just for fun. Edison puts people in awkward situations and is very upfront and honest. At times we are disgusted by what happens in this movie. He puts his finger in an oil canister under the hood of a car and licks it. In another part he has engine oil poured into his mouth. Carrot Top's humor is really energetic and top-notch. The movie did very poorly in the theaters and was not well received. It was just too stupid for most people despite being well made and very funny. Total it made about 300,000 dollars. I think the main reason for this is the beginning of the movie. They put a fake baby in the mom's stomach as the opening scene. It is so fake and ridiculous. Also much of the movie is over-the-top humor, which can be too much for people. The acting throughout the movie is very good. All the scenes make sense, and there is so much humor. I'm not sure why they spend all this money and time on a movie and then put such strange stuff at the beginning of the movie. Without that, I think it would be a little better. People always remember the very first scene of the movie. Edison reinvigorates the R&D department of the company. He has to learn the ropes of becoming an entrepreneur CEO from being a lowly simple-minded surfer. Much of the camera work is great, and the sounds are very good, too. It's fun seeing the different invention ideas. Carrot Top can do it all, and is hilarious in a wide variety of situations. Check out Chairman of the Board!
