Megalopolis is this new Francis Ford Coppola movie that is set to be groundbreaking. Except one thing: it has Adam Driver as its main actor. The movie seems like it would be cool, a futuristic movie from the creator of the Godfather. But the thing is: every hit movie ever has a good looking actor as their main actor. And Adam Driver is not good looking. I'm sorry. He's ugly. Great actor, but not the right person for this role. You need to have a good looking guy in there. I would never believe Adam Driver to be the leader of some big great futuristic city. The concept itself of a mega civilization is very amazing. We are anxious to see what futuristic technology that this "metropolis" world have. This movie succeeds very brilliantly at this. The fake city which is created is shown with stunning realism. The machine effects and the technology of the future are very intriguing and interesting aspects about this movie. Though it seems like there are too many visual effects and computer generated images in Megalopolis. If you don't have real stuff in your sets, you technically don't have a real movie. It is more like a digital animated cartoon or something for kids. Some of the stuff in it seems great. The designs are very realistic, truthfully. But still, it's a green screen. I also don't think that this actor combinations they have for this movie worked. I didn't necessarily see the main actress: Aubry Plaza, as a futuristic intelligent woman in this setting, either. And Adam Driver he looks like he just woke up off a couch and they told him he was going to be in a movie tomorrow. He does not appear like a cunning well organized genius who is running a huge city. And Francis Ford Coppola is old. Like, realllly old. The Godfather came out literally in 1972. They made it 50 years ago. He was a hotshot director 50 years ago. Imagine his age now. He should throw in the towel at this point. Some of the scenes in Megalopolis look interesting, but I do not really want to see Adam Driver jacking off a glowing robot dick, or whatever he's doing in that main sequence that seems to be the climax of the movie. They show it over and over in the preview. I'm not interested in what Adam Driver does with his ugly self. How he got to be a famous actor I have no idea. He was famous for a racist movie I couldn't even watch 5 minutes of. (Blackkklansman). Yet they gave him an award for it. I'm sure he's good to work with, and he always remembers his lines and always shows up, but at some point you have to be superficial and have good looks in the big time. Megalopolis, I have high hopes for but I just cannot look at Driver for 2 hours, or however long he is in the movie. Seems like another over-financed over-done Hollywood film. Even the DVD cover doesn't even have actor's faces on it, it's just him with a clock mechanical thing in the background. Is it watchable? I would say no. Are the effects unbelievable? Yes. They are. The setting Coppola creates is nothing short of unbelievable. It also has Shia Lebouf, and a few other notable actors. I myself will not even see Megalopolis. Cheers.
