They are coming out with another Mortal Kombat movie. Awesome, right? Well, they are not as well done as we hoped. They are following the trend of the other mortal kombat sequels of being straight-to-video low budget movies with less than stellar actors. I don't know what it is about the mortal kombat movies. They are not made with good acting in mind and patience to produce. The effects of it are great. But without a cohesive plot, they are lacking much substance. I was so hopeful when I watched this trailer. I hoped it would be an awesome mortal kombat movie. That all the characters would look how they did in the video games, and give awesome fighting performances. This, like other Mortal Kombat movies, have characters that don't really look like the ones in the video game. Johnny Cage, the main actor in this movie, or so it appears, it's so hard to tell with movies these days and is another mark of a low quality movie-- a trailer which does not accurately depict what's in the movie-- did not look exactly like the one we saw in the video game. He was too big, and out of shape. He was not flashy enough for me. Johnny Cage is a very flashy individual, who is suave. The actor they got for this is too big and slow. It is hard to believe this guy can do kicks going 9000 miles per hour, like the real Johnny Cage can do. I don't know if these actors really have respect for the actual Mortal Kombat. If the actors do, it shows in their passion for the work, instead of just getting a job to fill. If you're making a movie, you have to try to get actors who have background with the subject, or if they don't, to learn it. These ones seemed not to care if they were authentically looking like the said characters or not. This attitude is usually passed down from the producer. In this fake trailer they made for a Johnny Cage movie in the film, he does not even show good martial arts skill! He is moving around all slow, and doing these shallow kicks. It was not very impressive. Johnny Cage is supposed to be one of the premier fighters in the world. If you're making a movie, you've got to get authentic actors who can fulfill the part. If you can't then sorry, no movie. It gives us something to look at, but it's just going to be a short run success, like all the other mortal kombat shows / sequels. It's nice to see the characters, but gives us small entertainment value. Or at least I think! -Movie Review Corner
