Avatar 2. The sequel to the greatest movie-going experience of our generation. Avatar 1 was an immersion into another world. On the huge IMAX screen and 3D goggles, we were brought into the planet of Pandora for two hours. Our breath was taken away, we were enthralled, and when we left the theater, we honestly felt like we were returning to Earth. It was a completely amazing movie. So the sequel was much much anticipated. Especially after 13 years of waiting. We were all very very hyped up. I would say half of viewers were satisfied, and half not so much. Avatar 2 had all the same great visuals of the forests of Pandora. It had the same great characters and special effects. But there were a few things wrong with it. For some reason it had a lot of fire in it. Fire from the rocket ships landing on the planet. Fire from the explosions of the battles. I thought this was Avatar 2: The Way of WATER. There was supposed to be a lot of WATER stuff going on. Like deep underwater reefs of spectacular proportions dazzling our eyes. Amazing underwater lifeforms, and plants swaying beautifully underneath the sea. There was so much to work with. The plot I would have supposed would have been involved a lot with underwater. Instead it was land battles and ships mostly. I wanted a lot of amazing blue and green and bright colored Pandora life under the sea! Instead we got a movie with a bunch of the N'avi people having arguments above ground. The youth in the movie even crossed a huge reality barrier and called each other "bruh", which is a human term we use on Earth. This would never ever be used on an alien planet 50 million light years away. It completely took out the fantasy of the movie by using an annoying term that we already hear enough of here on Earth. Another bad thing about the movie was this big interaction the actors have with this giant whale. In this one scene he tries to 'speak' to the whale, and it just doesn't work. The whale just moans and he seems to communicate with it, which is supposed to be a touching moment, but it just doesn't hit our hearts. It's a giant whale. You cannot really humanize such a gigantic animal and try to speak whale talk. It was a waste of time and this part should have been cut out entirely. They should have cut out many of the fire parts too. A lot of the visuals were still good, though. James should have just let the visuals do the talking, like he did with Avatar 1. This movie also had too many big name actors vying for themselves in the movie. It's Avatar. Every actor wants to be in it. Any actor who is in it is really going to want to try to do great. But the problem is there were too many. The first Avatar was relatively simple, and the focus was on the planet itself: Pandora. With all this time to prepare for Avatar 2, James Cameron should have really sharpened it and hit the nail on the head. Instead, it was lackluster and a movie I don't really want to see again, whereas the first Avatar I saw about 6,000 times. I am still highly anticipating the sequels, and really hope James Cameron learned his lesson from the second one, and that the 3-5 ones are perfection yet again.
