Which is the better movie? Tommy Boy, or Dumb and Dumber?

It's honestly a really good question. Most people would probably instantly go with Dumb and Dumber. But the die hard Chris Farley fans know about Tommy Boy. Both films are from the 90s, which was a golden age for movies as far as I'm concerned.

Dumb and Dumber was a huge hit. Jim Carrey at his best. Tommy Boy was Chris Farley and David Spade in their prime. They are both such side-splitting movies. Dumb and Dumber had a little more mass appeal than Tommy Boy. Tommy Boy had several drug references and even some racist references that could have turned people off. Dumb and Dumber was more good-hearted fun. The acting in both movies is impeccable. This was 1 of 4 extremely funny Jim Carrey movies in this time period. Farley had only two funny ones but they were so good, Tommy Boy and Black Sheep. Farley's fame was stunted by his drug overdosed death and rumors of late nights with prostitutes. Meanwhile Jim Carrey continued to stride into the stratosphere. Farley would use his body for humor, and Jim Carrey would do it all.

Chris and David Spade played off each other on screen in a way that was rarely seen before in movies. David was the skinny smart one, and Chris was the fat stupid one. It provided a fantastic contrast that we instantly get. Spade : smart. Farley : dumb. In contrast, in Dumb and Dumber they were more equally dumb. Harry is dumb, and Lloyd is dumber. Or is it the other way around? One similarity is that in both of these movies they make a cross country travel to succeed in their goal. They're both driving a piece across USA on the highways navigating as best they can. In Tommy Boy they are saving the factory. In D&D they are returning the briefcase and reuniting with their friend. These movies even came out only 4 months apart. Ok now, let's take a vote. Which is funnier, Tommy Boy or Dumb and Dumber ?
