If you have not seen the trailer for Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds, I can tell you it is about what you expect. But not as cool as what I would have wanted. If we can even accurately judge movies by their trailers anymore! They are now too different from the actual movies for us to forecast what the movie will be like, never thought that would happen. It sounds weird to say. You would think they would just put what is in the movie in the trailer, in a the same proportionate amount. But trailers now are trying to "sell" the movie rather than "tell" the movie. I think that might be what's going on here with Deadpool 3. We can all see for ourselves next week on July 26 when it comes out in theaters. I will not see it based on the trailer. It is awesome to combine Hugh Jackman and Wolverine with Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds. Wolverine is one of the biggest characters ever. And Deadpool has quickly become one-of-the-biggest. The way Reynolds owns the screen under his red and black mask is something to behold. He would talk directly to the camera. He is one the greatest comedian minds of our generation. Deadpool was a revolutionary as a movie. He would say things often without a filter and humorize anything that was happening. There was something about the fact that his face was hidden behind the black and red mask, but his mind would say the most revealing and character-laced things you could concoct. Reynolds took the 2 dimensional plane of the movie screen and made it 3 dimensional, if that's even possible. It is a genius take at movie making and at superhero movies. I myself had never even seen the Deadpool comics. I knew who he was just by the way he looked and his name in the comic superhero universe. I was unfamiliar with his superpowers or real identity. I was happy to see Reynolds totally launch off the map with this action character. Ryan Reynolds is known primarily for comedic characters. The fact Deadpool worked so well is unbelievable. The action scenes were good, and the humor was completely off the wall and totally sideswiping. We had just never seen an action hero talk directly to the camera like this, and say exactly what we are thinking. Fans immediately liked Deadpool. In Deadpool 2, we almost got everything we wanted. More Ryan Reynolds in the red and black costume jumping around and killing bad guys while saying hilarious quips all the meanwhile. The opposite character was Cable, who is from the X-Factor series of X-Men. He was a great choice for the compliment character, and a great actor Josh Brolin to play him. There was step up with the CGI in this one, which I am never really a fan of. The other character Domino is played by Zazie Beets who looks actually nothing like the real comic book character "domino". Things like this reduce the authenticity and quality of movies. She did good acting, but the character is not meant for a person who looks like her, and therefore is a different character altogether. But the film worked well. She could have been a stronger actress in this part. As big of a hit as Deadpool 1 was. So for Deadpool 3 we have Hugh Jackman, which is a huge win for Ryan Reynolds in his third movie of this trilogy. Ryan is still in great shaping and making movies well. Mostly. Deadpool 3 is too serious and dramatic. It has the whitty banter that we expect from Wolverine and Pool, and great action I'm sure, but audiences want one main thing from Deadpool: humor. The main thing it has going for it is it's funny. Reynolds is a comedy genius. In this movie, and this is just based off the trailer, but if it is anything like the movie at all, we are in for an overly dramatic overly produced overly computer generated movie. Nonetheless we get to see our favorite characters Wolverine and Deadpool. So not all is lost. I give it a 1 out of 3. If it had more humor throughout, and more raw uncut action I think we would have loved it more. But this just looks like Ryan Reynolds attempt at being a dramatic when his real character is funny. I think he is one of the best funny minds of our times. Why he is trying to be dramatic with this huge smash hit that's almost a huge success before it even comes out I have no idea. With a movie like this you have to think "do less" rather than "make a statement". It looks like it focuses on the relationship between Wolverine and Pool. Wolverine isn't really a "relationship" guy. They play this stupid 80's song we've heard a MILLION times as the main theme song for the movie. It is just so played out, and it's almost like they're trying to ride that to make the film's success. They could have used some new techno artist for the music for this film, and audiences would have respected it equally. Using this old song to play in a new smash hit comic book character doesn't make sense. Ryan's jokes are funny enough. There is no need to make the song of the movie a joke, too. We take the main song of a movie serious. So it reduces the goodness of the movie in my opinion. That being said it still could be good. I'm not sure if I will ever even see it after watching the trailer. Reynolds is so unbelievably funny. I'm sure there's some good parts. Hugh Jackman's acting is almost always good. But Deadpool 3 is not the movie I thought it was going to be. - MTC
